Kongming lantern, also known as sky lantern, commonly known as wishing lantern and praying lantern, is an ancient Han handicraft.

Putting the Kongming Lantern is a folk culture of the Han nationality. It is a festival custom in many parts of China. It is usually released on the Lantern Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and other major festivals.

In ancient times, Kongming lanterns were mostly used for military purposes. Modern people put Kongming lanterns for praying. Men and women, old and young, write down their wishes for blessings, symbolizing the success of harvest and happiness every year.
